Cryptorchidism
Another testosterone deficiency problem is cryptorchidism. 3% of all full-term male infants and 21% of premature ones are born with one or both testicles undescended. About 80% of the time the tests will descend normally into the scrotum during the first year of life. When they don’t then medical intervention is essential.
Sometimes the doctor can manipulate the glands into place. When the cremasteric muscle contracts and thus holds the testicle in the abdomen , the doc can often relax the muscle thru massage , and that may allow the testes to drop. Sometimes the experienced doc will ask the child to squat and the testis will occasionally descend of its own accord.
Human chorionic gonadotrophin , the hormone mentioned above , may also stimulate the testes to descend. If those procedures fail , surgery is required. Any man who has reached adolescence with an undescended testitcle should have physical examinations atleast twice a year , for the damage that could lead to cancer has already occured.
